West Sussex Woodturners at Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre

The Woodturners at Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre provide visitors with the possibility of seeing a range of traditional wood-working tools and skills in active use.

Staffed by a group of members of the West Sussex Woodturners Club, the Woodturners Hut is home to numerous historic woodturning lathes, associated tools and equipment. There is also a very modern woodturning lathe.

The West Sussex Woodturners, like so many people at Amberley Museum, are volunteers who believe in preserving the industrial heritage and culture of the South-East. Their work at Amberley (and at other venues), ensures that once widespread but now largely abandoned craft skills are remembered and passed on to future generations.
